Covariate Legacy Data

Data on students' performance within ASSISTments prior to participating in your study problem set(s). Since how students have done PRIOR to entering your study, is likely to be very useful for you (in say some ANCOVA where you use prior performance as a covariate) this file is sometimes call a "Prior" file. The key thing about this file is this is all data that we share with a researcher on who has participated

Class Section ID

The ID of each student's class section. A teacher may oversee several sections of the same class, which are distinguishable by this ID.


Prior Problem Count

The number of problems the student had completed in ASSISTments prior to this assignment. This allows you to know something about the student before they did this problem set. You could use this to split student into low and high incoming ability to see in your intervention is effective. If this is empty it means this student has not done any prior ASSISTments work.


Prior Correct Count

Goes with prior_problem_count. The number of problems the student had answered correctly in ASSISTments prior to this assignment.


Prior Percent Correct

prior_correct/prior_problem_count. The percent of past ASSISTments problems the student got correct.


Prior Assignments Assigned

The number of prior skill builder assignments assigned to the class section denoted by “Class Section ID.”


Prior Assignment Count

The number of skill builder assignments previously attempted by the student. This number reflects only previous assignments begun by the student while a member of the class section denoted by the "Class Section ID."


Prior Completion Count

The number of prior skill builder assignments successfully completed by the student while a member of the class section denoted by "Class Section ID."


Prior Percent Completion

The percent of previously completed skill builder assignments. (Prior Completion Count / Prior Assignment Count)


Prior Class Percent Completion

The percent of previously completed skill builder assignments of the student's class section as denoted by "Class Section ID."


Prior Homework Assigned

The number of prior skill builder assignments estimated to have been assigned as homework (estimated based on the number of students who began each assignment outside of class). Similar to “Prior Assignments Assigned,” this number reflects only assignments assigned to the class section denoted by “Class Section ID.”


Prior Homework Count

The number of prior skill builder assignments estimated to have been attempted outside of class (as homework, for example). Similar to "Prior Assignment Count," this number reflects only the assignments attempted by each student while a member of the class section denoted by "Class Section ID."


Prior Homework Completion Count

The number of skill builder homework assignments, as defined by "Prior Homework Count," completed by each student.


Prior Homework Percent Completion

The percent of previously completed skill builder homework assignments. (Prior Homework Completion Count / Prior Homework Count)


Prior Class Homework Percent Completion

The percent of previously completed skill builder homework assignments of the student's class section as denoted by "Class Section ID."


Z-Scored Mastery Speed

The student’s mastery speed (the number of problems attempted to complete the assignment) on all prior assignments, z-scored within the class section denoted by “Class Section ID.”


Z-Scored HW Mastery Speed

The student’s mastery speed (the number of problems attempted to complete the assignment) on prior estimated homework assignments, z-scored within the class section denoted by “Class Section ID.”
